It is not because of money printing. Oh that's one important step along the way. But the real problem, the root of the cause, is a loss of confidence of the currency in the general population. I think we still have a long way to go before that happens. But fiat currencies do have a shelf life. If history is any indication, they all go by the wayside eventually. Ours is getting pretty long in the tooth.
Digital currency anyone? Maybe that will be the next fiat to replace what we got when ours eventually gives way. | |
