Whaddaya mean? I'm out of relatives. I've got young guns backed by old money offering $300 plus for 150 bu corn 40 bu bean ground. I've got big St. Louis Money buying ground. I've got old local money buying ground. Even the old local money isn't buying outright, they're trading and consolidating. I've got some landlords that may well age out. So then, what do I do? Look outward to off farm enterprises. Look inward to value added enterprises on the farm. Combine the two. I mean, the last 3 are the only available options, and we're working on all of them. I wonder, how many guys commenting on here are from a family that went through a farm sale in the '80's and managed to hold it all together? Anyone? We ain't quitting. But we have to realistically identify what we can realistically do. Or I can put out ads and try to rent overpriced ground 80 miles away. There's guys doing that, too. |
