Deere has always been close with IH not too far away. However, my late Father in Law owned a local Ford/New Holland dealership that his dad started way back when. That's been gone since late 80's, maybe early 90's, long before he became my FIL. My Ford 5600 feed mixer tractor was bought from him by Dad/Grandpa. They also sold Allis Chalmers at one time. I still have the WD45 that Grandpa bought new there in 1953. 1953, Grandpa got a tractor, Grandma got dad. Somewhere in there Grandpa bought a D17(?) that he hated and couldn't wait to get rid of. That was traded in on a David Brown 930 I think. Dealer drove the David Brown 3.5 miles out to the farm and took back the D17. It didn't make it. Engine blew on the way to town or something catastrophic anyway. There has been a couple Case 1390 loader tractors here. 1st one was 2wd and after breaking both spindles (1 at a time), Dad had enough of that near launch off the seat and bought a FWA version. Good tractors. Eventually that turned blue into a New Holland 6610s. That is currently for sale (DOH! I should list it here) and got replaced by a T6.145. There has also been a few red tractors as well. I remember a C or an H, maybe both. They were here and I kinda remember them but they were gone before I was big enough to even pretend to drive them. Jumping to the other end of things, there was a couple red 4wd too. A 3788 2+2 that is to this day, the only engine to ever blow up on the farm. Then a 9130 that ran into electrical Gremlins so that also turn blue. Now a 9280 takes its place. I almost forgot. We had a Ford 600. Big name, odd model. Last time I looked, tractor data doesn't even list them. Don't know if they are a sub-model or what. It was blue and gray and I think they were originally red/gray. I assume it was repainted before we got it. That's the tractor I learned to drive on. Dad sold it because we didn't need 2 little gassers anymore. He kept the WD45. Sentimentality for the WD45 aside, I think he's regretted it ever since. That "little boy blue" was everybody's favorite. Simple, reliable, efficient. Just not useful anymore. Back to the present. Everything is blue here now except the old WD45. It runs a load out auger and drags the driveway. Can't even rake hay with it anymore because it doesn't have hydraulic hookups. It does have the Allis 2pt system though. I guess I could go out "subsoiling" with it if I ever felt the need to blow the carbon out. We hung the subsoiler on it for "drive your tractor to school day" a few years ago. At the time my nephew worked for a BTO that did a lot of tiling so we zip tied a piece of tile onto it. Got a chuckle from a few guys. I think I did a good job with the re-direction. First word in all this was "Deere". No mention since. BTW, I live 25 miles from where they hold, "Orange Spectacular". There is no shortage of orange iron around here. Don't have to go too far to find another WD or WD45 or even a few 7000 and 8000 series.
