Frost,Mn
I’d say not as dramatic as it’s portrayed. Our main pumper gets on scene and is parked, just running half throttle pushing water, either supplying water to attack lines or filling grass rigs. The tankers haul water to the pumper or unload into drop tanks that are placed alongside the pumpers. The only real off road vehicles are the grass rigs which are 3/4 and one ton diesel pickups with 250 gallon water tanks with pumps and hose reels. They get bounced around a little but you have to remember the town people call a heavy duty pickup a truck so that gets lost in the translation. Many trucks can’t pump water on the move either as they are required to run the pumps while parked. We’ve all had our adventures and some love drama but the reality is you have a job to do and you don’t run around like a fool wrecking yourself or your equipment.
