Central Iowa | I grew up with an alcoholic father. In 2024 my wife received a donor liver due to alcohol abuse. So I've been around it all my life. Seek out friends that can support your sobriety. Keep busy with anything to take your mind off having that next drink. AA is good but turned my wife off. It is very hard to do in a small rural town as we don't have many social activities beyond the bar BUT you can control that also. Checking out is not the answer because of those who love and need you here. It's hard.....but can be done. The trouble is no one can do it for you. Reach out if I can help you.
