SC WI | The problem isn’t as much what I sell a product for, but it’s the margin in the product. Borderline monopoly’s control both sides of the farmers margins. These big companies only care about maintaining market share, not so much competing to gain market share, creating more potential margin for the farmer. Then these companies snuff out the up and coming competition. This ultimately squeezes the producer.
I have a couple buddies with excavating, logging, and other businesses, their cashflow/profit is greater than mine, with substantially less overhead. Most successful farmers around here have non farm income to support their operations.
