The reason so many hate the Massey combines is they were worn out before the younger guys were around them.
They were built and sold in the 70's, early 80's. By the late 80's they needed a rebuild but no money for parts. Guys cobbled them together just so they would run.
Many who say how bad they were were not born yet when they were made.
I bet I spend more every year on my flagship, than most of those had spent in 30 years of use.
I hate the fact that the walker series of Massey put the final nail in the coffin of Massey combines. Took another 25-30 years to do it. 9895 and 9560/65were the last 2 big rotor machines built and we had great luck with them. 9560 with the 7 cyl Sisu engine was one of the best I’ve ever ran. Finally got a combine with hella capacity, great power and awesome fuel economy but it was just too little, too late to get much traction in the market.
I’d put the 9560 up against a S690 or 9230/40 CIH and it would do a better job and burn close to half the fuel doing it. But that day has passed.
