Tell me about 2020 and newer Volvo trucks as farm truck.
Looking at VNL or VNR, what’s difference? Want I shift and D13. See a lot with mid 2.5 for rear end ratio does that work or would 3+ be better? How expensive are wet kits to add? What miles should farmer be looking at and when do they need maintenance?
All my family are 6’4+ so want bigger cab, heard good things about them. It will be on hopper bottom doing short 5-10 mile hauls year round.
If i am correct, VNR is the shorter hood/length, and VNL is more long haul type. I bought two used ones to use like you are thinking and love them. There is nothing COOL about them. Mine have the D11, Volvo automatic, and have plenty of horsepower and torque for on road normal use. I pull 80k loads of ethanol syrup from 50 miles away, and 70k pound loads of potato waste from 6 miles away, several times a week, plus grain hauling if one of the COOL trucks everyone else want to drive go down.
Mine both had wet kits. Its a lot cheaper to buy one with it already installed. Friend just added a simple wet kit to a truck using some used parts and it cost 6k.
I would look for one with the I shift, and a wet kit already installed. The more aluminum/stainless on it such as fuel tanks, air tanks, and wheels the better.
My help keep sending me pics of them driving them......
