I was born in 1990. I always heard stories of such and such started drinking when things got bad.... usually ended in suicide. My grandpa went to a check in facility when he woke up and poured a whiskey first thing in the morning because past due notices were in the mailbox.... what have all you done to stop drinking in hardtimes. I feel like a real loser but sometimes I just try to go to sleep early....like 2pm if what i want accomplished for the day is done i go to bed....its not as bad as the 80s due to government money but if it wasn't there it would be exponentially worse.

I have been there and done that and have the very expensive $$$$ lessons to show for it .

Sounds like my life for a few years .

Stopping dead cold turkey , landed me in the hospital .

Speak to a professional before you just stop , this aint no drama BS im telling you . I by gosh lived it .

Got to be careful who you tell in the medical field . Been there too .

I was drink ( as best i remember ) about a 30 pack a day with shots of vodkia added in . Got to where beer was not doing it .

Do I still struggle with drinking , yes i do . I go to the store and have to talk myself out of getting beer . Just yesterday getting parts , i thought ill run by the Lq store and get a small bottle of jameson .

I then think to myself “ you idiot , what the hell are you thinking “ How damn much more $ are you going to lose making stupid decisions “?

I do slip once in a while , now when i do i limit myself to a 6 pack .I like many drunks have to set rules for myself , i only drink 6 , never drink in the morning., never drink and drive . What keeps me sober 99.9% of the time now is my responsibilty with the fire department . I would not drink a single beer and go get in the fire truck .

When im goung to get a 6 pack , ( might be a week , might not be for 2 weeks ) I take myself off the rotation , i hate doing that .

I guess in all this stupid rambling ,my point is to find a “ calling “ that requires you to be sober .

I think really , having to plan my damn 6 pack night , and taking off rotation . Damn if it might just be easier to just quit .

I can tell you for 100% sure , you will be way less depressed not drinking . And you will feel better psysically
by a mile .

On just a 6 pack , i dont feel as good the next day .

In closing dont just white knuckle it , it can be dangerous .
seek medical help .

I hope some of this dumb stuff i posted helps you .

Id be glad to talk to you on the phone if you want also .
