Subject: RE: What area's of the country is Massey Ferguson really present

Middle Tennessee
Growing up in the Middle Tennessee area there was several Massey Ferguson dealerships around. We had a MF dealership in my hometown of Lebanon, it closed in early eighties and our local Allis Chalmers dealership pickup the franchise after Deutz brought Allis Chalmers just to have tractors to sell because he was afraid Deutz Allis be slow getting new tractors to their dealers.

A lot of the MF dealers seem to start closing up in the mid and late eighties. After AGCO brought Massey there seems to be few new Massey dealers starting up. There still a few Massey dealers around in the Mid Tennessee area. Also I noticed even in the seventies that most Massey dealers also sold Hesston hay equipment ( round balers ).

Growing up most popular MF tractor models was the 35, 135, 50, 150, 65, 165, 175, and in the late seventies these models was popular : 255, 265, 275, 285 tractors. In the nineties these models 383 model tractor model seen to be popular. But probably over the last 35 years John Deere and Kubota tractors seem more popular with a greater dealer presence specially in that size ( 100 horsepower and under ). I There few newer Massey tractors around, but not like in the sixties and seventies.

I got a MF 35 diesel ( that was my father’s ), MF 275, and a MF 4243 cab tractor.
