If we give farmers money to buy high priced fertilizer then the price of fertilizer stays high and we produce a bigger crop than we need because everyone applies a full rate of fertilizer and gets every last bushel for this next crop just making the problem worse for next year. The market is telling you to cut production but the government gives you money to increase production and the cycle continues to get worse. Pretty astute synopsis of the situation at hand, I’d say. Sad. |
