Take the usda 186 yield, let’s say 200 for easy figuring. Times say $4 would be 800 an acre gross. A $40 plus payment on corn equals roughly 5% of gross on first round of payments. If specialty’s collect 5% of gross you might be surprised at how much that uses out of the 15 billion dollar pot? However specialty crops have been the red headed bastard child when usda hands out “support” payments. It will be interesting to see how they get treated this time around. I haven’t seen anything about how the $1 billion that was set aside in the first go around will be divided up?
