Southern Indiana | I can’t comment on the drinking. It has never gotten ahold of me but I think a part time job or some sort of side hustle would help you financially and being around some other positive people or coworkers might help. Even being around some negatives might help as it may be a situation of at least I don’t have it as bad as so and so. Farming is a pretty lonely job and even if you have people around it can still get a little rough if you are only around the same people everyday. I also have no idea what your operation is but never rule out scaling back and working off the farm. I’ve always worked off the farm so it’s easy for me to say that but it took me a few tries to find the best job that fits into what I want to do and allows me to have the time I want for family and farming. Things are tough right now on the farming side but as far as off the farm employment if you have a little work ethic the sky is the limit. On the drinking side you have to want to quit or scale back or whatever you want. If you don’t truly want it you will never be able to make it happen. Good luck in whatever path you take forward. Hopefully you can find joy and peace in your decisions. Hopefully we see a post in the future about how great things are going. | |
