NW Illinois | Those crop uses were approved 40 years ago on those labels. In almost every crop you listed, to reduce volatility risk, you would use the amine formulation of 24D once temperatures increased or sensitive crops were near.
Fast forward 20 years and 24D and Dicamba traits are wanting EPA approval for use. EPA was not going to approve them unless they can prove that can greatly reduce the potential for off target movement from volatility from later season auxin applications.
End output is chem companies using the EPA to mandate specific chemistries that benefit their financials in the name of stewardship. The EPA could have just as easily demanded these "new" chemistry formulations be available for the making by multiple companies, for the sake of "free" markets, in return for approving the traits but that didn't happen. | |
