The E3 trait is owned by Corteva and MS Tech. MS Tech is a join venture between Merschmann and Stine. Syngenta, BASF and others pay royalties for using the E3 trait platform. That agreement means you follow the same rules as Corteva.
It will be interesting to see what transpires with the Bayer traits. Early media articles stated that Bayer wants it's own "novel" 24D product and Enlist would not be approved to be used. Be interesting to hear governments stance on that in the end. Wouldn't be very "scientifically based" if low vol Enlist is good enough for E3 but not for Bayer's new trait.
Reliable source told me that bayer approached Corteva about some sort of deal to use enlist and I’m sure bayer wanted the patent to produce their own too. Corteva said no because it could have helped bayer then.
What’s going to happen is bayer is going to grease the wheels of the approvers and they will have the 5 way market just long enough to pull ahead of Corteva/MS Tech in sales… |
