NW Illinois | No, the original tech agreements didn't demand a specific formulation of roundup like Enlist and Dicamba traited soybeans do. There have been many salt version of Roundup over the years. You had a lot of ISO salt formulations back then and many K salt versions today. As long as the product manufacturers went through the labeling process, they were legal to use in any RR traited crop. Liberty was the same way, no brand specific Liberty formulation was mandated.
Being "off label" and being out of compliance with your signed tech agreement are two very different issues. Not using a 24D that is labeled for in crop usage makes you "off label", the same as using any product outside it's intended use or in a manner not allowed by the pesticides label (wind speed, setback restrictions, etc.).
Corteva cannot bust you directly for generic 24D misuse, they aren't the government. They sure can turn you in to someone who can. The people that do pesticide usage regulations within the any given state can bust you for using a generic 24D "off label", but don't bust you for violating your contractual tech agreement.
