Northeast Missouri | We had a black cow with a hazy white circle (slightly oblong, not a perfect circle) just behind her shoulder. I think it was congenital, not a brand.
It looked like a smoke ring, easily explained by the fact that she was from Hell--and not the town in Michigan, either.
She got the nickname Evil because if you messed with her calf any time within a month of birth she'd charge at you. Dropping the calf and running away was not an adequate strategy, because she'd run right past the calf and keep coming, hoping to catch you before you made it over a gate. I don't think she really cared about the calf as much as the joy of trying to kill somebody. She went to town early. |
