Subject: RE: Shattercane in corn. Drone?

Holland, Indiana (SW IN)
In the "old" days-- before RR crops-- Beacon was for shattercane --accent for Johnson grass
Sutan or Eradicane didn't even scare either after a year or two used Treflan for soybeans then Post came out

--We bought a new Hagie 8250 (500 gal stiff legged sprayer with a Chrysler gas engine) in about 1983
think Beacon and Accent came out about 1989 thought we died and went to heaven ---could quit cultivating with the 12 row cultivator
Don't remember the height restrictions BUT we used drop nozzles 60' boom on chest+ high corn quite often

Shatter cane tends to germinate much later than 30 years ago IMO --seeds seem to be viable for years

Still have both Jgrass and cane --IMO much harder to kill them than the old days even with RR crops
-Line I use if our lack of weed killing skill is pointed out
" We let cane grow for wild bird feed "
I can almost say that with a straight face

I don't think a drone is a good idea tall corn gets dinged easily and don't yield much
IMO cure worse than the disease ---getting totally rid either probably will not happen here
