Like others said, too much trash. Very tough and abrasive. Someone asked about R on R? Never happens here in southeast Tx, they double crop one yr and the next yr either turn the cattle out on it or whip around and pull beds for a row crop. Crazy amount of labor for this day and age. Not much rice left around here either. Low prices, high labor, even higher inputs, can’t justify it anymore. Canal systems here lost the water out of the Highland Lakes in central Tx due to drought for about the last 15 yrs now. Real punch in the gut. Now 2026 the water is back. I’m afraid its too little too late for coastal Tx rice. Majority of acres have converted to row crop by now.
edit: i say double crop, they cut it and let the stubble regrow for 2nd harvest. one planting, two cuttings
