Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa | My late brother-in-law No Till Tom talked my wife and I into going 10-15 years ago, in San Antonio. Turned out to be one of our greatest trips, primarily due to the extra things which we were able to see and do while in the area. The wife ran into another hometown gal, and together they tried to get every knick-knack being handed out at the trade show, so kept her out of my hair. I am sure I attended some of the seminars, but really can't remember them. Trade show was impressive. Met lots of really nice people. Got a hotel room within walking distance of the event center, found a McDonalds on the way to and from the event center for quick meals.
We did the Alamo tour and a bit of the River Walk on our own time. The Classic is offering only 4 tours that I could find this year, we did the Toyota pickup assembly plant tour-was great.
I was lucky to do 2 other things on that trip. The first was a Classic sponsored bus trip to the LBJ Ranch, the Texas Hill Country, and Fredericksburg, Texas. The second was a hometown farmer I knew found out that we were headed to San Antonio, so he got his son, an Air Force career E-7 stationed there, who we had never met, to give us a personal tour of the Joint Base-San Antonio. Saw where they trained all the military K-9's, those massive cargo planes, etc.
The wife was mad that I said that we couldn't stay the last day, and take in the free country western concert that Saturday night (some big name guy-would have been a great concert). We flew home on Saturday.
Everyone who stayed for the concert Saturday night woke up Sunday morning to see an ice storm had set in, and closed the S.A. airport for 2-3 days, so those folks got to stay another couple of days.
