North Central Kansas | I had a 955 parallel front fold and went to a 16 row 1200pt. Used it for several years and went to a 1250 planter. On my 2nd 1250 due to an unfortunate accident that totalled the first one. If you can find a 1255. It will have all of the changes that they did to the 1250's plus the central fill tanks are improved.
With a 1200 PT your liquid choices can be limited. I have seen people put tanks on the side of the hoppers. Those planters are getting some age on them, I would check the pivot shaft and bushings on any that I was looking at. They can be fixed but not easy.
The 1255's have cable drives with electric clutches for row control. I can't speak for those as I have never had them. I had the Air Clutches. Last Spring I switched my planter over to the Ag Leader Sure Stop electric clutches. Simple install. Worked good. While I was doing the clutches I did the parallel arm bushings with kits from Precision Planter Solutions. Huge improvement in the planter performance.
If your fields are flat the 1200pt works fine. If you have terraces the 1250/1255 works better. The 1200PT is heavy when you pick it up. You can work on the row units standing up on the 1200pt. | |
