Subject: RE: Fertilizer calculator

Won’t argue the banding of P allows some “cheating” to make up for low levels
K being low is where my question is
In Today’s forecasted cost vs price forecast I am seeing some tough go on either corn or soys on less than ideal land
Now one could say walk away and let non profitable land go to someone else. Makes sense if I only look at one year
Once I walk away I won’t get the land back most likely
That begins to affect adsorption across all my acres
So looking for a method to optimize my K and P inputs to the max returned
No easy answer here. Spreadsheet says don’t farm at all this year as it looks like I will be paying for the privilege of doing so
Have had tough years before but we didn’t have the financial tools we have available today (I was farming in the 80s)
I am assuming P and K needs are not a true linear line when you overlay PPM availability vs yield on a graph
Where is the biggest return on a lbs of K or P to a given PPM on the soil test vs yield expectations?
