Lots of difference ins soil also.
That kind of reminds me of the farmer that said P and K were a waste of money.
They probably are on the land he referenced as it is high organic matter heavy soil. I bet he could take 100 crops and not drop the fertility enough to notice as there was so much there.
It is just that program doesn't work every where.
