Milford, IL | We have a PS3 we use as a Netflix machine. It was free, which made repairing it more palatable.
Start by trying to boot it in safe mode. Hold power button until you hear a beep, let go. The hold power button until you hear another series of beeps, should be in safe mode. If you can get it to boot and have access to internet the console may recognize it has a problem and attempt to repair itself with internet access.
Ours is a slim model and needed the hard drive replaced, which requires formatting a USB stick to FAT32 and adding some firmware files from Sony to make the new drive work.
I learned there were several revisions of PS3, If you have a problem that requires opening the console you will need to identify which version you have to work with. | |
