There is a lot to be learned about the microbiome and what effect the bugs of our guts have on our lives.
Some 45 years ago, it was suggested stomach ulcers were due to microbiome, instead of stress.
AI Overview -- Stomach ulcers are primarily caused by infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (\(H\). pylori) or the long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The concept that ulcers were primarily due to stress or lifestyle factors was overturned by the discovery of H. pylori and its link to ulcers, a finding that earned doctors Barry Marshall and Robin Warren the Nobel Prize in 2005
When medical understandings are compared from say 1950 to today, it represents a big leap in knowledge. And yes, with misunderstandings along this path being corrected later.
RE: "my fasting blood sugar to be 20 less"
Most likely related to microbiome and/or "homeostasis regulation." Each person's genetics and lifestyle are different, and what is good for the goose may or may not be good for the gander.
For instance, my fasting blood sugar has suggested I'm prediabetes for some 25 years. The years before this testing is unknown since I did not do annual checkups. It could just mean my body's setpoint for the fasting glucose level is different from the statistical norm. "They" have suggested to change my eating habits.....but this was not done. |
