Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Not your combine but I have one in a Deere 9770. My kit included a plate that bolts to the right side of the seat and has holes to mount the SCM. It is mounted flat just above the floor. It is a tight fit but out of the way once it is installed. I can see the LEDs on the SCM if necessary by looking down between the seat and the right arm rest. I need to be in sort of a sweet spot in order to see them.
Fortunately I don't need to consult the LEDs unless there is some type of problem which has been very rare. Generally if mine doesn't work it is due to some confusion on my part. Part of my confusion is that I move my InCommand from a Hagie sprayer without assisted steering to the combine and sometimes forget to make the necessary changes. Once I get it set properly, it just works from day to day without much thought on my part.
Remember the cable with 4 pins on each end needs to go between the SCM and the back of the display. Your display cable may have a short stub with the 4 pin connector on it that could plug into the rear of the display, you will not use it and it can just be tied out of the way. The long cable to the SCM is necessary.
