I have a neighber that plants Pioneer because he says there financing is better then anyone else. I don't know waht he is comparing it to, but I always assumed all financing was just given up your cash discounts to float it until crops off- are some better then others? Iv never used it, but with how things are I figured I would be dumb to not look into it.
I was in a situation this year, that the cash discount was significant enough, that I'm money ahead taking advantage of it even though I had to borrow the money on a line of credit. My actual cost is less doing it that way vs waiting until May and financing it on an even cheaper interest rate loan than my line of credit is at.
Always a good idea to run the different financing options. I used to ignore cash discounts as I never had cash to take advantage of them. But seems the cash discounts are getting higher than interest rates are for line of credits. |
