Simocattle - 1/14/2026 07:45 60% would be above beef industry avg for a timed one time through the chute ai with no heat detection on lactating cows. That would be above avg for yearlings as well.

It really doesn't matter if the industry avg is 50%, 60%, 70%, etc.   An average is made up of highs and lows.

The year that you hit the low % of AI breds is the year that you have to have enough bull power to avoid a disaster.

If you get 70% AI breds in year 1
Followed by 70% AI breds in year 2
70% in year 3
65% in year 4
75% in year 5
70% in year 6
75% in year 7
60% in year 8
65% in year 9

And in year 10 you only get 30% AI breds.

Assuming the same herd size every year, the average is still 65%.      A year 10 scenario is what you need to have bull power for.    Year 10 can and does happen.
