Subject: I Do Not Consent (Ag Data Edition)

Grabill, Indiana
This week’s report kicked up a lot of dust, but to me the interesting part wasn’t the numbers — it was the way dissent was handled and the assumptions about who “consents” to being the data source in the first place.

I wrote a Patio Pondering this morning about the gray space between implied consent and informed consent in agriculture, and how that affects USDA reports, private data aggregation, and producer credibility in the markets.

Not looking to argue reports vs no reports — I’m more interested in who supplies the data and how that actually works in 2026.

Curious what this board thinks:
Does it matter whether producers actually consent to the data being used to move markets?
