S Illinois
We likely need clarification as to what was reported Monday. The increase in planted corn acres was 100k. It's the harvested % those planted acres that was the big increase. Certification had nothing to do with the report on Monday as harvested acres are not part of certification and can change well into fall. The starting comparison everyone wants to use is the June Acreage report which is done before any certification deadline. Once the FSA data started coming out, planted acres increased in July and August. By August it was at 97.3 mil compared to the Jan number of 98.8 mil.

As to cerfitied acres it currently sits at 97.4 million FSA certified corn acres and 80.4 mil certified bean acres which is 98.5% and 99.4% respectively. Last year those numbers were 98.5% and 99.0%
