| I am no market guru.
I plant my crop and sell most of it come the next June. What goes to town gets sold and I move on.
I used to sell ahead. I got caught short once and they wanted the beans. It was really odd as my price was still over the cash price, but no one wanted to sell any at the time.
It wasn't that many bushel but just a pain.
I have tried fancy marketing, but most of the time, I just as well sell and be done.
When I borrowed money I used to sell enough to pay the rent around the 1st of March the year I planted.
I always thought that was a poor time to sell, but it seemed to work OK when I was selling ahead.
Selling enough to pay the rent was never enough bushel to get me short of crop for the contract. | |
