That wasn't my brother's experience with a '91 4.3l V6 in his Chevy with a 5 speed manual. I was looking at them at the time as I had a gutless 5.0l 83 Chevy. The 4.3 didn't like pulling his basic 2 place snowmobile trailer at highway speeds. I remember we were coming up I84 and the group stopped for a small break and he was many miles behind and had to just keep on going against a head wind and get home the same day the rest of us did. I just don't see our experience with even a lighter trailer and no big box as being a good fit with the 4.3. I had a 91 HD 3/4 ton with the heavy duty 5 speed and 4.11 rear end with the 350 was a great pickup that would handle the job.

Id be curious what axle ratio he had. Probably had 3.07.

I have 3.42 on mine, and it's a great match.
