| New idea. Rather than continuing to debate & bitch about our current commodity system, maybe we should direct our attention to changing how the game is played. Create a new exchg operated by the American Farmer. Reports & data would be sourced from a pool of private companies & the assimilation of that data would be compiled by the exchanges employees. If physical delivery was desired on these contracts ....then delivery points with spreads would be created to serve the larger grain production areas as opposed to everything being based on option value Chicago. Let's face it ...most of the grain in this country is consumed domestically...especially corn.
We need young people to engage & rethink how we conduct our marketing processes & break from the status quo. Part of this thinking would reach into the realm of controlling our greed & producing commodity at sustainable prices & investment. We can't continue to over produce & hope we work our way out of it. | |
