NWMO | I'll explain it better...
So before RTK & AutoPath were out we tried using Deere Factory feelers to steer machines but for me it felt as if there was too much gap in feelers and would wander 3-4"... So knowing they read one or the other with a gap... I made them from touching to a small over lap to try and work the wander out... Helped some but never got it to my OCD satifaction... And in testing I could let it drive on it's best day one round with a skip and then hand drive skip plus return for a round and I was just getting more corn in the tank... So it became handy if I was eating or somthing that I wanted abillity to take my hand of steering for a bit, but other wise was confident I could get more corn driving myself...
Then Implement Guidance came along and we have feelers and vision on sprayers but switched to AutoPath and it was a game changer in application... So thinking it would do the same in harvesting we implemeted it in to harvest and turned off the feelers as monitor will ask which one you want to use if head is still equiped... AutoPath still dosen't drive "For Me and my OCD" good enough yet... I checked and I could still get more corn hand driving... So yes I can switch in monitor from one (Feelers) to the other (AutoPath).... AutoPath is perfect for finding guess rows ect... So I just use it for what it's good for in my situation... Someone else might have great luck with feelers or AutoPath but here in my fields just rather drive machine... Feelers react to being off row.... AutoPath can at least see ahead... I think things will get better in future but for now??? Guys do your own tests and see if it saving corn, loosing corn, or ideally no lost and use for less fatigue....
