Whitewater, WI | Since it's intermittent it can be hard to trace. A simple thing to determine if the board isn't responding to the thermostat or the thermostat isn't closing is by jumping or wiring a light switch parallel to the thermostat wires. Install wires from the light switch to the R and W terminals on the board. If the heat should be on but isn't, turn the switch on. If it comes on, it's likely your thermostat. If it still doesn't it is either your board or your inducer motor is failing which is the first operation in the ignition sequence. If it's supposed to be calling for heat and you have 110v to the inducer but it isn't making a sound it is likely your motor then. If you don't have 110v to it it could be the board, or a limit switch that has opened for some reason not allowing the ignition sequence to start. Check those things. | |
