| Absolutely. A seed stock producer has a big investment in the cowherd and years of data and observation to have an idea of what their bulls will do. Free market says if there is not sufficient profit, quit raising bulls. Right now the bull market is a "bull market". Probably be a few new bull raisers trying to get in it as do it yourselfers or new breeders, but like cattle in general, they may be a little late getting into the game. The big breeders make the sale reports and the headlines, but there a lot of smaller herds with high quality cattle that bring less and their bulls are every bit as good as the big producers. There is an opportunity to save thousands of dollars and get a good bull, but it takes the effort to find them. | |
