Subject: RE: Corn acres

Saronville NE
Our most profitable is our diuble crop acres. Chop rye silage in spring and plant short season corn behind it. Corn doesn't have to yield fantastic if it does 200 we are still farther ahead then the guy getting 250 because we got 12 ton acre of feed off ahead of the corn. Goal is to expand cattle to do that on more acres instead of add acres.

Strictly row crop is dead end imo. Rent has gotten out of hand, land price is out of hand. Anytime corn goes up, rent goes up, fertilizer goes up, seed goes, so in the end yr margin is still very little.
Feeding cattle in 25 would of taken $9 corn to compete on row crop. Think about that a minute.
And yes i know that will chsnge, like everything. But just proves diversification pays.

Add more acres, add nore machinery, add nore to cover thst cost, then have to add hired man, then to cover that cost add more acres, vicious circle that never ends.
