It all depends on what you want and need for your herd. And if the sale is private treaty or auction. We raise some and buy some. The purchased ones are going to be more expensive this year. It looks to me that at auction they will be about 50% higher than last year on average. I think the average Angus bull was around $8300 last year according to the AAA, and it was similar for Herefords.


Yearling steers are worth $32-3400, Fats $3800-4000. Another $1000 for registration, dna, culls, warranty, and advertising, and you are just into the ones that didn’t get the knife. And several of those would have at my place, so go up from there depending on what you need for your goals.
