Subject: RE: Bank Barn Question

coast of Maine
The biggest oldest barn on our farm is what you guys call bank barns. Here it is just a barn with 3 sided foundation.I have replaced much of the old stone foundation on the north side as it is where drainage over near 200 years was worst.Jack it up put on posts while stones are dug out.We used those steel adjustable jack posts.Poured a footer with posts in the middle.Used foam block foundation forms and lots of wire tied rebar.Posts stayed in the blocks, had to cut some block passage but rebar kept strength,Poured with a 6 inch gap,to allow pour,,filled withPT and lowered screw post nuts a bit.Foamed seams. We had animals way back but it is storage above/seed room/chem room/lower level ware house/packshed.Best thing I ever fixed ,it never ends though.Did entire facade front with clapboards couple years back.If it ads value it should be kept.
