Nah - low cost producer right now is the one that can spread costs out over the most amount of acres. Whether we like it or not, the guy with 10k acres is in a different world then those with 2k acres. Now more than ever. I don’t buy that notion for one second. 8850 made an eye opening remark, (or at least I thought it was) the other day that his rent is 80 bucks/acre. He’s in northern ND. Granted, his yields aren’t on par with ours,, but still his chance to make a profit is much greater. All of his inputs are considerably cheaper per acre simply cuz his yield goals don’t require near as much product. Id like to see his budget. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s 40% of ours.
