Subject: RE: Steering valve on early 8x00

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
After installing an external valve on my ILS 8120, I decided to add one to our older 8310 which did not have a factory steering valve either so it required an external steering valve.

This valve was mounted behind the cab also. It attached to the steering sector with tee's like the other tractor. The valve itself was physically smaller. I believe the 8120 needed a larger valve due to being an ILS with the large steering cylinders. Since the 8310 was not ILS, a small valve was adequate.

Besides the two larger lines going from the new valve to Power Beyond and return, there is a small line coming from the external valve. This small line and orifice deal with Load Sense. This keeps the hydraulic system ramped up to provide oil flow for the auto steer. It attaches to a port in the SCV area. There was confusion about which port to use.

Both tractors ended up steering well.
