Best I ever heard of from a reputable source was a farm was bought after planting and the crop was sold in the fall, and brought more than he paid for the farm.
That was back in the 50's. when a normally to wet farm got the dry weather it needed and everyone else burned up.
I had forgotten.
I know of a farm bought for appraised value back in the 80's. One year of government payments paid for it.
I think there may have been another farm the same year sold by a bank that did the same, but I am not positive on that one.
