Central Kansas | I am looking to buy a torch setup and would like opinions in general and about two specific models.
First off I am thinking to do an oxygen & propane system. I have read that its harder to weld with this setup vs acetylene, but I will almost never weld with a torch. 99% of the time I will use the torch for cutting or heating steel. Propane is easier for me to handle, can refill bottles on the farm without running to town, fewer safety concerns for laying a bottle over or overflowing acetylene etc..
My search has led me to two options, a Victor Medalist 250LP and a Victor Medalist 350 kits. Is there a practical difference between the 300 series and 200 series that would make a difference for average farm use? The 350 kit is about $150 more (when adding a rose bud), but is labeled as heavy duty rather than the 250 being labeled as medium duty. I'm not worried about spending another $150 if the 350 is a better product.
Let me know if there is another kit out there I should be looking at. I don't have any components currently, so I would need to buy everything to get it up and running.
Thanks.
