East of Broken Bow | First, for the most part unless you have a source for cheap pipe, you can't buy pipe and pay yourself more than $1 or $2 an hour to build them, and in some cases they are actually cheaper than buying the pipe.
However, if you have a cheap source of pipe, and want to build your own, this is what I would do:
Buy ONE pre-made continuous panel, and use it as a jig to build all your others. Just lean it over at about a 45* angle, lay your pipe on the tops of the pipes that are there (it will hold them perfectly in place if you have the vertical stays to the bottom). You can weld them all together with the exception of the very top pipe. To get that one in place, you just 'drop' the one you are making one bar down on the one you are using for a jig, then weld it on. Weld it as good as you can on the 'jig' then flip it over (or lay it down) and weld the back side. If you do it this way, your home made panels will have the same spacing as the pre made ones, and in the future if you need more you can buy the prefabbed ones and have them be compatible with the ones you made. | |
