You could probably do solid set across the whole thing for quite a bit less than that. If I was going to put in solid set here in an orchard I would probably budget roughly 3k per acre, not totally sure on current prices. 6 years ago it was 2k on an efficiently shaped field. So your fields are chopped up, so maybe 4-5k per acre still only 320-400k, not sure how they are spending a million. If you could give a hint about your location maybe we could help some more? 9 different fields is a lot different and more equipment than one big pivot for a single 80 acre field. Sounds like 9 very short rigs
To the original poster, I'd keep your original setup. A million dollars will pay a LOT of labor for many years to someone or someones to keep moving pipe. Free hay is pretty enticing if you're where you sound like |
