I personally know and am friends with at least 3 farmers within 5 miles of me that own between 2 and 3 thousand acres debt free. These guys are in their 70's with sons my age. All have bought $12-$14k ground in the last few years. I can confirm that very little, if any, has been borrowed by these guys.
