Subject: RE: Buying land economics

Older non farming brother(why he had a couple nickels too) bought adjoining 256 acres to the north in Jan 1988, set to close on march1. Farm credit repo.$88,000. Tenant burned dairy barn down. Got $23,000 from farm credit insurance for barn subtracted at closing. Then sold the acreage for $25,000. So he had $40,000 in 256 acres. Again nobody else had any money. 160 tillable. Balance river bottom pasture.
