Central IL | Had a stihl ms260 that I felt i got my money out of. Bought it new 20 years ago for $450 in 2002 ish. Main problem was the buffers were gone so it was pretty loose. Sold it for 100 bucks i was happy and someone got a good running saw with a little bit of work. The new 261 ($650 in 23) that replaced it was much more powerful.
Thinking about those Homelite xl’s. My dad used those and cut lots of firewood with them. I bought a used xl and ran about a tank of fuel through it and gave it to my dad. The lack of vibration buffers was enough for me. Later I gave him a stihl 018 and i think i converted him to modern saws too.
