The more replies I read the more I understand why land rent is so high. Most guys have no idea what he true cost to operate is. Like the guy the other day said to farm the $540 rent farm at break even, and the govt payments you could live on. 1400 acres. I don’t care how well oiled and low cost operation you run, here in north iowa, where we had top 3 yields last year, that would have gotten you at least a $300 acre loss if you weren’t 100% sold by Valentine’s Day.
