Subject: RE: Those were low volume / high pressure systems

Kansas, IL 61933
I have an old cylinder I still use on my 4-14 plow, with Grandads series3 D17. It originally came on my dads 4-16 semi mounted SC plow(60 series, I believe), he bought new for his D17 gas in 1957. Ill post a picture of it in the morning if anyone would like to see it. My Norm Swinford book says the WD45 through the D series3 tractors had 3500psi, but like 3-4 gal of flow. Dad always told me they were more like 4000 psi and we had specific cylinders we could use. I saw a neighbor who was not familiar with a WD45 hydraulic system hook up a low pressure2500-3000 cylinder to a WD and when he hit the end of the stroke, the cylinder blew the end and rod across the shop. They had no idea that tractor had that much pressure!
